Put Cancer on Ice pickup is back:
Piney Orchard Ice Rink
Saturday March 10th 2007
1.30 - 3.00 pm
Hockey, you either get it or you don't. If you fall into either of these categories, then Piney Orchard is the place to be on March 10th 2007 for the 4th putcanceronice.org Washington Capitals Fans pick-up hockey session.
We will have hockey players, and hockey wannabes (namely your beloved webmaster) who have at least 2 things in common.
1. They all want to help fight cancer
2. They all love hockey
These pickup games started as an idea, a notion, a "wouldn't it be fun...." conversation. And from there, it has continued to grow in popularity. There are updates for these games available on the Washington Capitals Messageboards. If you are somewhat interested then just CLICK HERE TO VIEW ALL ABOUT IT
The format has been of late an intra-state rivalry. Maryland vs Virginia.
The basic rules are as follows:
Cost: $20 per person, any monies collected over the cost of ice time will be put into the charity fund and added to the total after our second annual Caps Fans Classic Golf Tournament (stay tuned for more details on that event, tentatively scheduled for July 2007).
Skill Level: All skill levels welcome, from beginner to advanced, however the emphasis here is fun. Puck hogs not required. Because this is a mixed level group, it is a no checking game.
There will be no fighting. Any fighting is automatic ejection from the game, and an end to any participation in future games. There cannot be enough emphasis put on the fun aspect of this. It is for charity, and is a grassroots event born from Washington Capitals fans.
Pens fans must pay double, and are not allowed to wear any pads, or carry a stick. (I kid, I kid)
We hope to see you there. Pictures will be up soon, and spectators/donations are always welcome on gameday.
Thank you
