Put Cancer on Ice will try to organize a pick-up hockey game each month to raise additional funds that will be pooled together with the money raised from our golf tournament and donated to the Woodbridge Relay for Life, to aid in cancer research.
This month, July 2009 , the game will take place at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.
The rink is located at
627 N Glebe Rd, Suite 800, Arlington, VA 22203
The game will take place on Saturday July 25th, from 4.00pm - 5.30pm.
The following are the payment details, and the rules.
Price: $20 per person, anything over cost of ice rental will be donated to Hockey Fights Cancer in Dave Fay's name
If you are interested in playing, please send an e-mail to capsfansclassic@yahoo.com. Due to limited roster space, we cannot guarantee everyone a roster spot each month, but do try to accomodate as many people as possible.
1. A waiver of liability form must be signed by every participant prior to taking to the ice. You can download a form in advance by clicking the FORMS tab, at the top of the page.
2 . This is a no-check format, obviously there will be incidental contact, but this is no check.
3. Full equipment is required. This is the arena rules, when its for a private hockey pickup, they require full gear, this means pants, shins, elbows, gloves and helmet. They did not specify a faceshield or cage, so if you don't wear one, its at your own risk.
4. There are a multitude of levels playing here, from the beginner to the advanced to the advanced in age. It's for fun, so if you have an attitude, either stay at home with it, or leave it at the door. No one cares that you should have been the next gretzky, we do care about having a laugh, and of course, setting me up with impossibly easy goals, only to have me fan on the puck, or push it wide.
5. Please bring both a light and dark colored jersey to be assigned to a team.
